Hello!

My name is Madison (she/her), and I am honoured you have found yourself here. Beginning your therapeutic journey can feel both exciting and overwhelming. I believe having an authentic and genuine connection with your therapist not only eases feelings of overwhelm but enhances the healing process. As a Master of Counselling Student, I aim to create a safe, welcoming, judgement free environment where you feel supported as we work collaboratively, drawing on client-centered and evidence-based practices, as we explore your unique lived experiences, thoughts, and emotions while creating goals and mapping out a path towards meaningful change.

I invite you to book a free consultation with me to see if we’re a good fit and look forward to the potential opportunity to learn and grow alongside one another.

Mental Health Concerns

My goal is to meet you where you are at and work collaboratively throughout our time together.

I have over six years of experience working with children (ages 5+) and adolescents within a community school setting. I have experience supporting children and youth in addressing emotional dysregulation, anxiety, depression, academic stress, peer relationships, and other mental health struggles. Additionally, I have experience supporting adults working through life transitions, relationship challenges, and varying mental health concerns. When working with individuals of all ages, I aim to utilize personalized and reflective treatment approaches.

I have a special interest in internal family systems therapy (IFS), animal assisted therapy (AAT) and the field of forensic psychology. I am actively pursuing further education in these areas to enhance my ability to connect in a meaningful way with my clients.

Mental Health Approaches

Throughout my professional and academic journey, I have remained drawn to strength-based and client-centered approaches due to their collaborative and empowering nature.

My current therapeutic approaches include cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused therapy (SFT), and eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing therapy (EMDR). Together, we will explore which of these approaches fits best to support your unique goals and healing journey.

More About Madison

My journey to becoming a Master of Counselling Student was not linear, as I initially graduated with a degree in criminology. Working alongside marginalized populations within my practicums, and later children and adolescents within a school setting, a professional shift was initiated as I developed a curiosity of human behaviour and a desire to support others on their journey’s while engaging in meaningful work. I feel incredibly fortunate to be part of a

profession that allows for me to connect with others and walk alongside them as we navigate life’s uncertainties.

My desire to engage in meaningful work, coupled with my love for animals, led me to get my own dog; Sir Remington, certified as a wellness dog. I have been fortunate to experience the power of human and animal connection first-hand, as Remi brings joy and instills confidence in students with a variety of developmental delays and mental health concerns each week.

Outside of work, you can find me watching all the true crime documentaries streaming services have to offer, spending time outside, or trying new patios with my partner and Remi. During the winter months, you will find me at the arena playing or coaching ringette!
