Anxiety, Depression & Mood

New research in anxiety and depression shows that they appear to have more in common than we previously thought.  Todd uses trans-diagnostic cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) to help deal with common underlying factors related to anxiety and depression. He also focuses on how mood related issues can be managed and improved through simple, low cost behavioural protocols that can be easily incorporated into a persons daily life.

Children, Teens, & Parents

Todd has several years of experience as a child and youth care counsellor. In this role, he supported parents, teens and young adults with severe mental health issues.  Todd recognizes that in addition to struggling with mental health, the fast changes in society have made it harder than ever to parent. Both boys and girls are facing unique and unprecedented pressures and issues growing up relating to culture, family, social media, relationships and more.  Todd aims to be a source of support and knowledge for youth and parents finding their way.

Rock Climbing Therapy

Rock Climbing Therapy is an evidence-based, fun and interactive approach to counselling. It engages all aspects of an individuals health and development including coordination, balance, attention, problem-solving, self-esteem, emotional regulation and more. Todd specializes in rock climbing therapy which he effectively used to improve his clients mood and reduce anxiety/depression with less focus on talking and more on action!

Todd's Approaches

Todd provides a safe space for children, teenagers and adults to navigate a variety of life challenges. As a therapist, he is committed to being genuine, engaging and bringing a sense of humor to each session while also sensitively supporting and challenging his clients.

He uses cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness, motivation interviewing, exposure therapy, cognitive processing, attachment based therapy, behaviourism, and rock climbing therapy with his clients. His experience with these approaches are primarily through his practicum, with some years of experience with motivational interviewing and behaviourism working with at-risk youths.

More About Todd

Todd is primarily a loving parent to one young son. Besides being a dad, he enjoys building
bows, creating art and partaking in new adventures. Being an avid outdoors person means he spends a lot of time outside on personal adventures such as climbing, skiing, and exploring forests and the river in Edmonton with his son. He thinks that it is essential to never stop playing, which is one of the reasons he runs a mobile Nerf War business for kid’s birthdays! He is light hearted and energetic - traits that he enjoys bringing to his sessions.
