Therapy for Depression

What is Depression?

Major depression is a serious mood disorder that causes a person to experience bouts of deep sadness, hopelessness, worthlessness, and loss of interest. Depression is about more than just feeling down or sad, and people with the condition can’t simply snap out of. It is a mental health issue that affects the way a person feels, thinks, and behaves which causes those with the condition to withdraw or have trouble with normal day to day activities and tasks.

The good news is that depression is highly treatable with the right combination of therapy with a trained psychologist and medication.

Causes of Depression

Depression is a complicated disorder that often shares a comorbidity with other mental health issues such as anxiety, PTSD, borderline disorder, bipolar disorder, and stress. The cause of depression could relate to genetics, abuse, trauma, age, grief, medication, child birth, chronic pain, injury, chronic illness, divorce, and more.
